Hanne and I have just launched: I just have to get a picture of this tug! Posted by Hello

McKenzie Barge & Marine -- immediately west of the Cates Park boat launch site. Posted by Hello

Industrial zone. Posted by Hello

The area west of Cates Park is definitely industrial. Posted by Hello

Just waiting for some TLC. Posted by Hello

Hey! Cool! The waterfront we've been looking for. Posted by Hello

I'd say the front porch needs some repairs. Posted by Hello

Waterfront property: compare this with the luxury northeast of Cate Park up towards Deep Cove. Posted by Hello

I love these old docks! CLICK! Posted by Hello

Hanne hears a distant humming in the sky: what could it be? Posted by Hello

Odd: four helicopters flying in formation (or so it seemed). Posted by Hello

The Tsleil-Waututh Nation ahead. Posted by Hello

Church in the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Posted by Hello

Aluminum skiff moored off the Burrard IR - the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. Posted by Hello

Burrard Inlet is, of course, a working stretch of water, so barges of all sorts pass by. Posted by Hello

Interesting collection of condos on a barge...  Posted by Hello

Marine yard just west of Cates Park. Posted by Hello

This picture is meant to convey the vast number of docks just south of Deep Cove (and north of Cates Park). They make an interesting contrast with the crumbling docks we saw earlier on our paddle west of Cates Park. Posted by Hello

Passing underneath a fairly extensive private pier. Posted by Hello

It was fun paddling underneath these docks, attached to multi-million dollar homes. Posted by Hello

A bit artsy to conclude the trip. Posted by Hello

Kayaking from Cates Park west

Starting at 9:30 and finishing at 12:30, we paddled west from Cate Park to the Burrard IR and then turned back, went past the boat launch at Cates Park on to Grey Rocks, from where we returned to Cates Park.
